Why does RSL use historical creeds?
Mainly, RSL uses the historical creeds of the church as an affirmation of what we believe. It is a reminder that the mission of the church to love God and our world was not created by in our lifetimes but rather this mission extends through the ages. Where the church has failed, we repent and pursue reconciliation through the gospel but we also believe that the Holy Spirit has been active in the church since the beginning. Christians hold the Holy Scriptures as the only rule of faith and practice but the creeds of the church are insightful. Therefore, we embrace the wisdom of the ages and cling to Christ alone.
